Is it ok to wear fur?

Hello – I am Rosalie. I’m a student at University College Falmouth. I will be helping with the show on Friday when the WHYS team visit Cornwall.

Fur seems to be everywhere at the moment – in the magazines, on the catwalks and in the shops.

But does our quest to be fashionable justify wearing fur?

Do you want fantasy or reality in women’s magazines?

 

Are “ordinary” women now fashionable?

Karl Lagerfeld, the German fashion designer has added his views on whether ordinary women should appear in magazines. He says that fashion is about dreams and illusions, and nobody wants to look at chubby women. Here’s the previous post we wrote last week:

The next issue of the Italian edition of Vogue is to feature mainly black models. The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Franca Sozzani,  says she is doing it because not enough people in the fashion industry use black models.

Ms Sozzani is the latest person to suggest that the fashion industry is racist.  Is she right? Does it promote a white world?
