Hello Sara of Denmark,
Humankind has a history of engaging in unjust and unwise activities (war, genocide, environmental destruction, human trafficking, etc.), because it routinely allows the direction of public debate to be controlled by a small number of moderators. These may be well-meaning; but their control results in the thoughts of the majority being submerged by the ideas of the few. The clue to the answer lies in the comment that though many desire peace; wars continue to happen. We imagine our solutions reside in actions when they actually lie in mutual understanding. It isn’t the debate that is at fault; but that the debate happens without effective communication and development of this understanding. This implies that striving to have every voice heard may be more important than being heard oneself.
Sara From Denmark,
Thank you for being a champion for peace. Thank you for cutting through the blah, blah blah. Since we older people rely on the younger to foment change, what can young people do to bring about a peace revolution? Maybe a texting campaign since you guys are so clever using your mobiles. I think you should consider a career in politics. You Go, Girl!
The solution is rather simple – but as the first post suggests we lack the ability to communicate ideas and concepts. We need to understand why we are acting as we are, understand how much personal power we each have within ourselves and combined and united. We need to find that common ground – describe what world peace actually looks like and within that description do not control what others do or want but what do you want to experience within your own experience? My idea of world peace = equal food, equal shelter for all, equal opportunity, equal good health for all, no war, no abuse no one can take advantage of another or do harm to another. This is very easy to accomplish on a Global basis – we need to see how many people can agree first if this is what you want. Who is against living in an equal world? If everyone voted individually – who are the one’s that feel they need to live in a world where we do harm to another to survive?
