Instead we´ve flown into an outbreak of swine flu which the WHO says may become a pandemic. This is a video I recorded an hour ago in a deserted park down the road from our hotel.

Everyone we talk to comments on how quiet the city is. The pavements are all but deserted where we´re staying, you could walk down the middle of most roads without worrying about getting run over, tourist tour buses have only two or three people riding them (and they´re wearing masks – what a holiday) and most the street food vendors look like they´ll pack up soon as there´s no-one to feed.

And the best fact Ive read so far is that take-away orders and video rental is booming, with disaster movies being the most popular choice this Saturday night.
