South Africa votes, you report

sa-flag1April 22nd is election day in South Africa – and we want you to report for us. We’ll be the New Brighton township of Port Elizabeth, so if you’re there, we want to hear from you.

In the 15 years since the end of apartheid, the ANC has had the political playing field pretty much to itself. But this time round, there are a couple of parties out to make sure the ANC can’t take votes for granted.

One is the Congress of the People, and one of the key battlegrounds for them will be Port Elizabeth.

So we’ll be heading to New Brighton to see who people think should lead South Africa for the next 5 years. But you won’t hear too much of us – we will be working with locals to help them tell you about their lives, and report on the issues that matter to them. And they’ll be coming on WHYS to talk to all of you as well.

When we get to PE, you’ll be able to follow it all on the Your Story blog – head over there now if you’d like to get involved or post a question for our citizen reporters.
