ON AIR: Are there some places where we shouldn’t live?

These are very tough times for the people of New Orleans, the Indian state of Bihar and parts of the Chinese province of Sichuan.

TV heaven

We did the first pilot of WHYS on the TV yesterday. Our erstwhile colleague Jimmy has worked very hard on it and had to spend some of yesterday morning explaining glamorous tv phrases like “floats” ( a loop of pictures as far as i can see) to radio luddites like me.

As I write this post Hurricane Gustav is approaching the Louisana coast in the USA.

Do we all have an obligation to help those affected by natural disasters?

Bihar is hit with catastrophic flooding, and over one million people are homeless, the Caribbean hurricane season has begun with Hurricane Gustav killing nearly 70. What responiblility does the international community have to those caught up in natural disasters?
