Talking Points for 14 May

Other options today include of course China and Burma – the news is pretty grim out of both Sichuan and Yangon. I was wondering what the response to a natural disaster says about a country. When was your country last tested in this way? How did you do?

On air: Should Hillary pull out?

OK, here’s plan B. West Virginians are facing a choice that has been offered around America for months now. It is of course between Clinton and Obama. The thing is plenty of people think Hillary should resolve the matter and let her rival get on with taking on John McCain. According to many commentators (including our own Justin Webb) the Clinton Obama contest is over. Do you agree? And what advice would you give Hillary if you could speak to her?

Should first cousins be allowed to have children together?

Change of plan. We’ve had a string of problems getting the guests we need to set this discussion up. Some people won’t come on air to talk about their experience, others are simply unable to make today’s show. We may return to it another day when more people are available. We’re definitely going to speak to people affected by the Chinese quake, and we may go for another subject. I’ll update here when we decide.
