Welcome Mr Medvedev

Hi, I’m Jon. I’ll be working on the World Today this Sunday morning.  With Dmitry Medvedev set to become Russia’s new president this week, if you could pen a greeting card to Mr Medvedev for his big day, what would you write? And what farewell message would you give for Vladimir Putin?

    Welcome message to Mr. Medvedev,
“Welcome! Enjoy this time, Putin’s pupil & fellow…”

    Farewell message to Mr. Putin,
“I wish we could tell you to take vacation. Bye, Mr. President, Hello, Prime Minister!”

It’s kind of the same, anyway!

    Mr. Medvedev,
“Congrats! Do it big in Russia sir, do it big.”

    Dear Mr. Medvedev,

Congratulations to your new position! Always remember that the truth is a very precious good which should be used sparingly and only after exhausting all other possibilities.

    Dear Mr. Putin,

I’m sure you did the best you could.

Mr. Medvedev: Enjoy your presidency. I hope those puppet strings don’t chafe.

Mr. Putin: Congratulations on finding a way to completely undermine democracy and your own constitution. I’m happy that Russia has found another narcissistic dictator, since dictators have worked out so well for the country in the past.

P.S. My greeting card to both of you should be read using heavily sarcastic tones.

Hi Precious Jon : To Mr Medvedev I say : “A very big welcome to you sir. You’re not gonna be able to satisfy the whole world, but you must be pretty concerned about satisfying your own conscience, because at the end of the day that what really matters right ?!”. With my love. Yours forever, Lubna.

    Lubna and Ana,

Your posts made me wonder, in a different way, about why some people feel bad about some things and not others, which is akin to the on air question today. Thanks for that!

Why do we care about some things and not others? We develop a conscience about some things and not others, that’s certain. How is this conscience developed?

So, to Mr. Medvedev, I would say welcome to the world stage and don’t restrict your conscience to your own country and social group.

To Mr. Putin, I would say, help Mr. Medvedev and the people of Russia, as an elder statesman. And thank you for your contribution during your time in office.

    Welcome President Medvedev,

My sincere best wishes to you dear Sir to take good care of the people of your land and get them into a state of happiness where they get to enjoy the wealth of Russia…..the richest nation on earth with great resources and potential.

Thank you President Putin. You indeed did a great job turning a failed and disintigrated nation into a very wealthy one, and one of hope.

As you both step forward I hope you can actually become world helpers with the global warming issues, actually a more stable platform for all the peoples of the planet.

Your system seems to have made the adjustments that work for you. Mr. Putin thanks also for your kindness and ability to work with our President Bush. He also had a very difficult set of circumstances to deal with during his era, and you did well not to join the packs of wolves that were not kind and helpful to our President.
