Should the MDC do a deal with Mugabe?

The Movement for Democratic Change has announced their version of the election results in Zimbabwe. At a news conference they claimed that their candidate Morgan Tsvangirai gained 50.3 per cent of the vote thus avoiding the need for a run-off vote. It says President Robert Mugabe got 43.8 per cent of the total vote and the independent Simba Makoni got 6 per cent……

This morning, Zimbabwe is still on the brink, waiting for the results of Saturday’s election. A state-owned newspaper has acknowledged that President Mugabe may face a run-off vote later this month – the first official hint that he and his party have not won an outright victory.
