Is bad debt your problem and not your bank’s?

European and Asian markets are down, US bank Bear Stearns has been sold for a fraction of its value last week, and again the fall-out from loans that were given but will never be paid back continues. Does everyone who has taken a loan and then been unable to meet the payments need to take responsibility?

Please stop tapping during the show

Dear members of WHYS staff. I have been a loyal listener to your wonderful program on WCPN in Cleveland, Ohio, since the date of first airing, but sa much as I enjoy your show, I must register a complaint. Please please PLEASE do something to eliminate the awful sound of keyboard tapping during the program.

From good cop to bad cop

I’m going for a change of tack on the blog. It won’t affect most of you because you write respectfully and relevantly. But some people are consistently breaking the rules by which the WHYS blog operates.

China says it’s showing restraint in the face of the Tibetan protests. They also claim the Dalai Lama is orchestrating the trouble and it’s an attempt to wreck the Beijing Olympics.

I’ve been struck by the restraint, too, in the press.
