Terminal five doesn’t open to passengers until later this month, but when it does the nine billion dollar building will be the new home of British Airways.

Protests in Tibet

TIBET

The protests against Chinese rule by Buddhist monks in Tibet, which began earlier this week, are continuing. Eyewitnesses in the city of Lhasa have told the BBC that large crowds of demonstrators have been setting fire to vehicles and property they believe to be Chinese-linked.

Talking points for Friday 14 March

Good morning, it’s election day in Iran. We know – broadly – what the result will be since so many reformist candidates have been banned but are there times when “managed democracy” right for some countries? After all, the electoral college that still elects the US president could (in theory) introduce an element of management to the process, as could the superdelegates in the ongoing Democratic party primary.
