It’s Fair Trade Fortnight in the UK. Tate&Lyle has just announced all its sugar will be ‘fair trade’. But is the notion of global trade being ‘fair’ a realistic one? And should we even aspire to capitalism that is ‘fair’? Might trying to achieve that actually disrupt the market economies that some argue are the best way of providing for all of us?
