I agree. The BBC is still the very best station you can hear world wide. It always has been the best, and we hope it always will be, the best.
But there is too much 'spin' creeping in these days, creeping in for a number of years. And, we are giving too much away to the Un- Godly, spilling out imformation the Un- Godly does not need to hear, which will end up doing us grave harm.
We give all this imformation out, in the name of being moderates, and fair, and because our modern generation feels we need to atone for what they feel are past iniquities in former British Empire dealings.
Well,... the former British Empire, for good or bad, kick- started the modern world. And there were just as many citizens in its territories who felt they didn't need an end to it, as there were who thought that they did.
You can judge today, what came to pass in many countries (and I don't need to name them ), when they became independent and make up your own mind. But the BBC does not need to rub today, former Colonial Supervisary Faces, in any of it. The BBC needs to cut out the ' Spin' about what they think happened, and read a book like ' Empire'. by Niall Ferguson, if they want to know what happened in those days, and how much Great Britain paid, in blood and British pounds.

I miss Judy Swallow, she was a fine BBC news presentor ! Whatever happened to her ???

Well, most of the BBC World Service is top notch, but I have to admit I'm sometimes somewhat irritated by the slow way of speaking of Alan Johnston. It's also a mystery to me, why Lyse Doucet is always over-pronouncing, especially when I heard her talk in a less studied way during the evaluation of 2009 and prognoses for 2010. So she CAN do it in a less... irritating way.

Don't get me wrong, both of them are superb journalist, but hey, my musical ears sometimes have an own opinion, which is not always the same as my brain's :-)

Dear Vee, Jan 11th.
The same can be said about many places in Africa, and much of the Muslim world anywhere too. Do you really think slavery was started by the British, as modern history books attempt to suggest ?

I see Worldhaveyoursay, has published one of my scripts on the fast- expanding world population, and why everything that is happening to us, is a direct result of this expansion, and we have to find some way to face, and stem it, though all hell will break loose from clerical, banks and business interests.
If we do not find a way, and continue to dodge the issue, future generations will rightly hold us responsible for Genocide and Destruction of the Earth, if not for the wars that will follow.
Then again, like the Dodos and the Dionsaurs, perhaps there shan't be anyone around to blame ?

Having been a seaman, and then an oil man for most of my life. I have seen, tasted, and drunk, in much of the world.
But now, or perhaps it is old age that gives me this outlook, I don't further see much more than the destruction we are causing the Earth, in every way we can.
I was born in Maymyo, Burma, lived through the war mother and fatherless in England, and then when aged eleven, my father (a policeman), returned after the demise of the Colonial Empire.
We went to Trinidad in the West Indies. I'm much more a West Indian now, than anything else, though my ancesterage is English and Scotish, and I write from Barbados where I now live, aged 74. I used to write short stories. Some got published on the BBC.
