A correction and an apology
Apologies to David Bellavia, a guest on Monday’s programme. In a blog post I wrote the following day I quoted him as saying during the programme that photo-journalists “should be Christian first, American second and a photographer third.” Mr Bellavia did not say that, and has told us that he would never ask a photographer to put God or country above his profession.
We apologise for misquoting him and are happy to correct our mistake.
It’s not the policy points or the delivery that’s got you talking about President Obama’s healthcare speech. It’s those two words that Joe Wilson called out during the speech: ‘you lie’. Listen closely at 1’28 into this video.
John McCain says, “There is no place for it in that setting, or any other, and he should apologise for it immediately”. But plenty of right-wing bloggers are celebrating his actions – claiming the President’s assertions needed to be challenged regardless of protocol.

‘You lie!’ – Republican Joe Wilson felt so strongly about illegal immigrants during President Obama’s speech on health care, that’s what he shouted when the President mentioned it. The President was explaining that illegal immigrants would not be entitled to benefits under his reform proposals.
