POST ON THE NEW WHYS BLOG: WORDPRESSWHYSHi there. Ros here.Next week we’re off to America to broadcast with KJAZZ in Phoenix and KQED and KALW in San Francisco… and slightly to our surprise we’re very nearly full for the first show, and sold out for the second already. So if you’d like to come to Phoenix please say now – worldhaveyoursay@bbc.co.uk.
DOES POSITIVE THINKING WORK?
Not when it comes to fighting cancer says the University of Pennsylvania which has just released details of a new survey. It doesn’t make any difference at all it concludes.Do you agree? Have you or a relative used positive thinking to fight an illness, and what effect did it have? Email worldhaveyoursay@bbc.co.uk
SHOULD A TEACHER BE ALLOWED TO CARRY A GUN AT WORK?
A teacher in Oregon not only thinks so but is going to court to uphold what she sees as a right. She’s not allowed to speak to us on a phone at her school because it does not support her claim, so she’ll be speaking to us on her cell phone from the school grounds. She’ll make her case and then is happy to talk with you about it.If you’re a teacher, would you like the right to carry a gun? And if you could, would do? If you’re a parent, how would you feel if a teacher was armed?Email: worldhaveyoursay@bbc.co.uk
Here’s Martin’s post about this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/worldhaveyoursay/2007/10/armed_for_school.html
OH REALLY ROS, THE BLOG DOESN’T WORK?I know, I’m not going to win any prizes for most surprising news of the day. It’s still broken as it was yesterday. We’ll let you know when it’s fixed and in the meantime please email us at worldhaveyoursay@bbc.co.uk.
GOODBYE, ANU
As you may well know, Anu’s last day at the BBC is on Friday. I’m off for the rest of the week, so this is my last chance to wish her well. She was the first voice we heard when WHYS started two years ago and has been with us all the way. I’m very sad she’s going, though our loss is definitely Delhi’s gain and I can tell by the skip in her step that she’s pretty excited about the move. My first presenting shift on the World Service was when I was lobbed in as a cover presenter at short notice on The World Today and Anu was my co-host. I was, to put it mildly, very nervous and she looked after me very well that day – something I’m still very grateful for. We’re all going to miss her a lot. I’m sure you will as well.I’m off now until next Wednesday’s programme from Phoenix, so Peter and Anu will be at the controls until then.Speak to you later.
Cheers,
Ros
